Meet our teachers
We are glad to introduce our professional staff. Our qualified and well-educated teachers will turn the educational process to a great and fun experience for your children!
Gentle Shepherd Christian Preschool (“GSCP”) provides an educational environment that maximizes the spiritual, cognitive, personal, social and physical development of young children.
As the director of this amazing preschool for 16 years I am grateful to the wonderful and nurturing staff that makes Gentle Shepherd the best preschool around. Their commitment to love, care and educate each child who comes through their classroom door makes me proud to know them.
I hope you have an opportunity to come and visit our school and become a part of the Gentle Shepherd Family!
I joined the Gentle Shepherd team in 2000. I am proud to be a part of such a caring, nurturing and Christian environment that the school offers. I love working with preschool aged children as their innocence and love of learning creates a rewarding experience. I strive to make every child feel comfortable and happy while encouraging their growth in learning. Gentle Shepherd has warmth and compassion while making everyday fun and exciting for the children.
I am the assistant teacher in the 4 year old class. This is my 14th year as an assistant but was here 4 years prior when my children attended the preschool. I live in Basking Ridge with my husband and 2 college age children. Gentle Shepherd will always have a special place in my heart because of the caring and nurturing environment that has been created for each individual child that attends our school.

The 2016-2017 school year will be my eighth year at Gentle Shepherd. As a married, mom of one who was returning to the work force, the school fit my life perfectly.
I began here as an assistant in the “Fives” and the “Fours” classes before becoming a Three’s teacher in the 2013. I enjoy this age group greatly and love watching them grow and develop every day.
Gentle Shepherd is like a family that I am proud to be a part of.
My name is Eleanor Halsey, and I teach the 3’s class and assist in the 2 ½’s class. I have been a proud member of the Gentle Shepherd staff since 2003. I first came to GSCP as a parent, enrolling our daughter, Clare, in the 4's program shortly after moving to Basking Ridge in 2002. Years later, Clare is a Freshman at Rutgers University, and I am happily returning for my fourteenth year at her alma mater! Gentle Shepherd was and continues to be a wonderful school filled with light, love and lots of laughter. From the cheery classrooms to the dedicated staff to the precious children in our care...is it any wonder the Gentle Shepherd was the first and only school I toured years ago, and the school I love just as dearly today.

I am entering my 7th year teaching at Gentle Shepherd, all of those with the 2 1/2s. My three children attended Gentle Shepherd and for me it was love at first sight. The caring, nurturing staff, the Christian surroundings, the bright classrooms and the protected playground made this place a little piece of perfection when looking for a preschool. Now, after my children are long gone, I come to work with a smile on my face, knowing that we are still offering all those great things. Teaching preschool is a gift, you never know what you are going to get, but it's always wonderful.

I am a teacher's assistant in one of the three year old classes at Gentle Shepherd Preschool. This is my second full year teaching in the three year old class and prior to that, for the last three years, I was a substitute in the three, four and five year old classes. I love to teach preschoolers because they are so curious and eager to learn about EVERYTHING! I have lived in Basking Ridge since 1994 and have two amazing children, Cole age 19 and Tory age 15. I became aware of this wonderful preschool from hearing my best friend rave about what a great experience her daughter had while attending GSCP. I am very fortunate to be a part of the very motivated and caring educational staff at GSCP.
My twins attended GSCP 9 years ago. They started in the 2 1/2's, continued on to 3's, then 4's. They will be starting WAMS this fall!
Before my children were born I was an elementary school teacher. I returned to teaching two years ago to teach at GSCP. I currently teach the 4's.
I love being a teacher at GSCP! I work with the most amazing and loving women who are dedicated to the teaching profession. They push me to be my best!"
I have been at Gentle Shepherd for 23 years. I have taught in the Three Year Old Class and the Five Year Old Class and in the last four years I have been teaching the Bible Enrichment Class. I love showing the children how much God loves us through God's Word in the Bible by incorporating music, puppets and dramatic play to make each lesson fun for all of us!
